Mastodon

Museum of the Earth

We are currently working on our first DEMO at Museum of the Earth in Ithaca, NY. We have been tasked with creating an immersive exhibit for their mastodon skeleton, which will be accessible using web XR. Once we have a final date on this project, we post details on when you can come take in this exciting first step toward our full-scale product. Please feel free to email with any questions you may have on our work with the Museum of the Earth.

Mastodons, distant relatives of elephants, roamed the Earth during the Pleistocene epoch, around 2.5 million years ago, and went extinct approximately 10,000 years ago. These massive mammals stood tall with tusks that could reach up to 16 feet in length.

The discovery of well-preserved mastodon fossils has provided valuable insights into their anatomy and behavior. Their teeth, featuring cone-shaped cusps, were adapted for grinding plant material. Studies of mastodon tusks have also revealed growth patterns, aiding researchers in estimating their age and understanding social structures.

Our AR-Tour DEMO will highlight all of the amazing and interesting facts of the mastodon beyond the skeleton seen in the space.
