Augmented Reality Tours
Supporting education and innovation
21st century museum experiences, inspiring and engaging in the digital age
AR-Tours is an augmented reality (AR) experience company dedicated to crafting immersive and narratively compelling AR tours, aiming to elevate and supplant the traditional audio tour paradigm. Our team curates animation and audio content for museum tours, while our AR specialists integrate digital visual elements with physical museum exhibitions, delivering a seamless and enriching experience to museum patrons.
Central to our methodology is our meticulous emphasis on the integration of AR. Leveraging the static nature of many museums and historic sites, our team of specialists crafts highly detailed digital representations of these environments. This precision empowers our AR experiences to seamlessly merge with and coexist within the physical exhibitions, creating an authentic illusion of their presence.
Our 3 Step Approach
01_Photogrammetry Scans
The first step in the creation of an AR-Tour is a highly detailed photogrammetry scan of the museum space. Using a variety of software and tools this scan built over the course of a month provides an accurate 3D model of the museum space and all applicable exhibitions.
Not only does this photogrammetry scan provide a significant amount of data for the museum’s use but it allows our AR experiences to fully integrate with the space. Museums are static spaces and that means our AR experience go beyond a gimmick and directly improve engagement and retention of patrons
02_Animation / Gamification / Production
With scans of the museum space our animation team begins to storyboard and design an AR experience which adds significantly to the museum experience whether through the addition of more visual information or by adding interactive, fun, and engaging AR components to the experience.
As AR-Tours grows into an international AR media company our animators will work with game designers to gamify the museum experience. Bringing elevated levels of interaction and engagement to the AR experience.
03_Positioning and Anchoring
The final step before release to the museum. positioning and anchoring. There are multiple methods of anchoring AR visualizations in space. Our approach is to use the highest quality magnetic position sensors to determine where an individual set of AR glasses is in space. With that information, updates will be sent quickly to on-site computers generating the AR visualization which then updates the glasses in real time what they are looking at.
